I agree with you Rick, regarding the snark.
It's worth noting that US forces are reportedly holding Saddam until the last minute to ensure he is not humiliated or abused prior to the execution and are strongly urging he have a dignified burial afterwards. There are no doubt several reasons for it, among them that we are diminished by such behavior.
Having lost most of my extended family under Stalin, I know too well the importance of releasing the ghosts to rest.
